A Lucid Dream is defined as a dream where you know you are dreaming and you can manipulate your dream. "Lucid" in this context simply means aware or conscious of. The extent of the lucidity does vary from dreaming session to dreaming session and from person to person. This awareness is dependent on the dream, the stability of the dream, the experiences in the dream, and even how much the dreamer remembers when they wake up. Most of this is fairly largely influenced by your personal awareness during sleep and how much control you take during the dream.

This last factor is probably one of the most remarkable parts of lucid dreaming. Experiencing and identifying a dream and taking control of it is really quite an amazing feat. The simple fact of knowing that you are dreaming and identifying the dream as such is astounding. Lucid dreaming allows you to take control of the dream and realize that within the dream there are no limits to where your imagination can take you.

Take a moment to imagine this. Your dream feels and looks like reality, you have most or all your senses, the only difference is that you know you are in fact sleeping. You are aware that no matter what happens, you are completely safe. You cannot die, become injured, or mess up your real life in a Lucid Dream. You can dig yourself into all sorts of imagined trouble and fantastic adventures since there are no rules or limits to your dreaming world or physical powers. Lucid Dreaming is far more advanced and has far more realism that any virtual reality generated by even the most sofisticat3ed computer technology.

More people than ever before are trying Lucid Dreaming for themselves. While most people experience a Lucid Dream at some point in their lives, just imagine how exciting it would be if you could have Lucid Dreams any time you want!

Lucid Dreaming gives you the opportunity to do anything you've ever wanted to do; to experience anything you've ever wanted to experience. You can meet your favorite celebrities of the present and the past, visit other planets, have wild erotic experiences; anything which is within the power of your imagination is possible in Lucid Dreaming.

As neat as lucid dreaming sounds, it's a lot more difficult to learn how to do. The process itself is pretty complicated to achieve. In the past most people would spend months, maybe years, attempting to achieve just one lucid dream. In the process they would put themselves through training and instructions and even self conditioning procedures. Then they may have one or even two lucid dreams. Even then they may manage only a few brief minutes or seconds of lucidity. Many others never even succeed just once.

So are there any simple ways of experiencing a Lucid Dream?

Many people who have experienced a Lucid Dream swear by eating certain foods just prior to the dream. If you would like to try this they usually recommend orange juice, milk, cheese, and mustard. These seem to produce the best results.

Other people have found success with foods such as: Pickles, Ice cream, Popcorn, and Fish. Although, the success rate for these foods has not been as successful as the foods described above. The claim is that these high acid and fatty foods help prepare the brain for the lucidity session. There are two main problems with eating these foods. The first is that these foods do not induce a restful night's sleep, and eating before bed can cause weight gain.

Assistant Technology

New technologies can make it somewhat easier to experience Lucid Dreaming. There are devices which can help to stimulate you to have Lucid Dreams such as eyeshades and sleep masks which activate a LED when rapid eye movements are detected. This light reminds you that you are dreaming; letting you take control of the dream!

The most exciting developments have been in audio technology. Sound waves at slightly different frequencies are played in to each ear of the listener ? a technique known as binaural beats. This can open the experience of Lucid Dreaming to many people.

These binaural frequencies synchronize the hemispheres of the brain; by listening to these frequencies, the brain is helped to achieve REM sleep, the sleep state necessary for Lucid Dreaming.

If you would really love to experience a Lucid Dream then this is for you. This is definitely one of the easiest methods and devices that assist in achieving a Lucid Dream.

  1. Lucid dreaming is quite an incredible experience. I actually began lucid dreaming as a result of having chronic nightmares as a child. Interestingly enough, I got the idea of attempting to master these nightmares from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (which I probably was not old enough to watch).

It’s through lucid dreaming over the course of a four year period that I got the inspiration for the novel trilogy that I’m writing so it is indeed a profound experience, and I know I have only touched the surface.
