The Science Of A Lucid Dream

For those unfamiliar with the term, I have good news; Lucid Dreaming is actually a pretty simple concept. A Lucid Dream is a dram in which you are aware that you are dreaming. The degree to which your Lucid Dream is lucid is dependent on how much of the dream you can remember once you awaken, how stable the dream experience is and how much control you have over the dream.

Having control over your dream is the amazing thing about the experience of Lucid Dreaming. Knowing that you are dreaming even while in the middle of a dream is something which is hard to compare with anything else. You are in control and can decide the direction things go and other than your imagination, there is no limit to what you can do.

Imagine for a few moments what that is like. Dreaming usually seems a lot like reality. Most people even feel most of their senses and faculties as if they were awake. The difference is hat in a Lucid Dream, they know they are dreaming. They know that, no matter what happens, they cannot die or become injured while in the dream state. The normal rules and regulations of reality no longer exist. This is, for all practical purposes, you inborn virtual reality world and you make up all the rules. The depth of realism and imagination is not hemmed in by a budget or computer graphics.

Lucid Dreaming is an amazing thing; and an increasing number of people are trying it out for themselves. Almost everyone has a Lucid Dream occasionally, but can you imagine how great it would be to be able to have a Lucid Dream at will?

Lucid Dreaming lets you do anything you've ever wanted. You can meet celebrities, have unrestrained erotic experiences, visit other worlds; if you can imagine it, it can happen in your Lucid Dream.

As neat as lucid dreaming sounds, it's a lot more difficult to learn how to do. The process itself is pretty complicated to achieve. In the past most people would spend months, maybe years, attempting to achieve just one lucid dream. In the process they would put themselves through training and instructions and even self conditioning procedures. Then they may have one or even two lucid dreams. Even then they may manage only a few brief minutes or seconds of lucidity. Many others never even succeed just once.

Are There Simpler Methods for Training & Experiencing a Lucid Dream?

Some say that you can help increase your odds of having a Lucid Dreaming by eating certain foods before bedtime; among them are mustard, orange juice, milk and cheese.

Other people have found success with foods such as: Pickles, Ice cream, Popcorn, and Fish. Although, the success rate for these foods has not been as successful as the foods described above. The claim is that these high acid and fatty foods help prepare the brain for the lucidity session. There are two main problems with eating these foods. The first is that these foods do not induce a restful night's sleep, and eating before bed can cause weight gain.

Assistant Technology

There have been some recent technological innovations which can help people to experience Lucid Dreaming. There are LED eyeshades and sleep masks. These LEDs activate once REM sleep is detected. The lights serve to remind the dreamer that they are dreaming. Once the sleeper comes to realize this, they are able to take control of their dreaming experience.

The most exciting developments have been in audio technology. Sound waves at slightly different frequencies are played in to each ear of the listener – a technique known as binaural beats. This can open the experience of Lucid Dreaming to many people.

Binaural frequencies can synchronize the hemispheres of the brain; as you listen, your mind reaches the state of REM sleep; which is necessary fro Lucid Dreaming to occur.

If you have always wanted to try Lucid Dreaming for yourself, binaural sound presents the quickest and easiest way to begin.
