The Concept Of A Lucid Dream
Lucid Dreaming is not a terribly complicated concept; it is simply the state of being aware of dreaming while you are dreaming. Lucid in this context denotes this awareness. How lucid your Lucid Dreaming is has to do with the stability of this dream, the amount of control you have over the happenings in your dream and the amount of recall you have once you awake from this dream.
The most important part of this equation is the control you have over the events of your dream and that you know that you are in fact dreaming. You are in control of your dream and can have any experience in your Lucid Dream that you want to have.
Just think about this for a second. The events in a Lucid Dream seem real; but with the difference that you know that it is all a dream and that you are safe; there is no risk of injury in a Lucid Dream and no limits to your abilities. It is a kind of \"virtual reality\" experience which no computer can come close to in terms of realism.
There is an increasing number of people who are trying out the possibilities of Lucid Dreaming for themselves. Most of us have a Lucid Dream at some point or another; but just think how amazing it would be if you were able to Lucid Dream any time you wanted!
Lucid Dreaming lets you do anything you've ever wanted. You can meet celebrities, have unrestrained erotic experiences, visit other worlds; if you can imagine it, it can happen in your Lucid Dream.
Having regular Lucid Dreaming can be a difficult thing to achieve. Until very recently, it was something which required months of training before any results would be seen; and some people never managed to achieve their goal of Lucid Dreaming.
So are there any easy ways to have a Lucid Dream?
Some people have found that eating certain foods right before a sleep session has encouraged a lucid dream to occur. On the list of foods that seem to be successful for this process are: Orange Juice, Milk, Cheese, and mustard. You could try these just before heading to bed.
Other foods are less effective but are still thought to help; pickles, ice cream and popcorn. These foods do have the drawback of having a lot of salt or fat – meaning that they are less likely to produce restful sleep.
Can Technology Assist You?
New advances in technology have made it easier for people to experience Lucid Dreaming. Some of these devices use LEDs – there are sleep masks and eyeshades which can detect REM sleep and set off a LED, reminding the sleeper that they are dreaming. This then lets them take control over their dream.
The most exciting developments have been in audio technology. Sound waves at slightly different frequencies are played in to each ear of the listener – a technique known as binaural beats. This can open the experience of Lucid Dreaming to many people.
Binaural frequencies help to synchronize the hemispheres of the brain and make your brain more likely to reach REM sleep, which is needed in order for Lucid Dreaming to happen.
If you have always wanted to try Lucid Dreaming for yourself, binaural sound presents the quickest and easiest way to begin.
