Letting Lucid Dreams into your life
Lucid Dreaming is essentially a very simple idea. It is nothing more than the condition of being aware that one is dreaming while in the midst of dreaming. In this context, lucid means aware or conscious. The degree of lucidity of any dream depends on the stability of the dream itself, how much of the dream can be recalled upon awakening and most importantly, the control that one can exert over the events of the dream.
The most important part of this equation is the control you have over the events of your dream and that you know that you are in fact dreaming. You are in control of your dream and can have any experience in your Lucid Dream that you want to have.

While everything that happens in a Lucid Dream may seem real and can be experienced by all of your senses, there are no lasting effects to your actions; you can do anything you want without fear of injury in a Lucid Dream and there are no limits on the things you can do. As neat as lucid dreaming sounds, it's a lot more difficult to learn how to do. The process itself is pretty complicated to achieve. In the past most people would spend months, maybe years, attempting to achieve just one lucid dream. In the process they would put themselves through training and instructions and even self conditioning procedures. Then they may have one or even two lucid dreams. Even then they may manage only a few brief minutes or seconds of lucidity. Many others never even succeed just once.
So are there any easy ways to have a Lucid Dream?
Some say that you can help increase your odds of having a Lucid Dreaming by eating certain foods before bedtime; among them are mustard, orange juice, milk and cheese.
Other foods are less effective but are still thought to help; pickles, ice cream and popcorn. These foods do have the drawback of having a lot of salt or fat – meaning that they are less likely to produce restful sleep.
Is There Technology That can be of Assistance?
There are new technologies which can assist you in having Lucid Dreams. There are sleep masks and eyeshades which turn on LEDs when REM sleep is detected; the idea is that the red light of the LED will let dreamers know that they are dreaming; this is the first step to taking control of the dream.
But it is some breakthroughs in audio technology which have opened the doors to Lucid Dreaming for everyone. Sound waves of differing frequencies are played into each ear, a technique called binaural beats.
Binaural frequencies help to synchronize the hemispheres of the brain and make your brain more likely to reach REM sleep, which is needed in order for Lucid Dreaming to happen.
