Imagine Experiencing Dream Control!

Most of us think of our dreams as a mysterious part of the way that our minds work – a natural occurrence which we can control no more than we can the weather. These trips taken by our subconscious while our bodies are at rest are thought by most of us as something which is not truly understood, much less within our power to shape. However, anyone can learn dream control and start deciding what happens in their dreams. This is possible thanks to the technique of lucid dreaming.

Just what is lucid dreaming, exactly? Can anyone gain the ability of dream control? What is there to be gained by lucid dreaming? Read on for a look at dream control and how it can be helpful to you.

What Is Dream Control?

Dream control, (through the use of lucid dreaming), is your becoming aware of the fact you are in a dream state, and that you can actually control the happenings in your dream. As you are sound asleep, you recognize that the events you think are going on are actually dreams, and that you can control how the events transpire to even the ending.

For the nightmare sufferers of the world, this can help them find a cure, and back to being able to sleep nice and sound again, and back to having pleasant dreams.

Common Ways of Inducing Lucid Dreaming

A very successful way to reach lucid dreaming uses binaural audio, with this you listen to 2 different types of frequencies simultaneously, for the purpose of altering the brain waves, to bring on a relaxed stage, and also the rapid eye movement (REM) stage of sleep, which is where the lucid dreaming occurs.

Before it was possible to find CD and DVDs of binaural audio, the primary methods used to induce lucid dreaming were self-hypnosis and meditation. While these both work very well, it takes time to develop these abilities far enough to reliably gain dream control.

There are a number of other techniques which have been used by experts to help people achieve dream control. All of these techniques work towards the goal of training the mind to understand that they are dreaming so that they can enter a state of lucid dreaming.

This training will begin, of course while you are wide awake. You need to set a cue for yourself – an action which you will perform or a certain thing which you will say that will be your reminder that you are dreaming so that you can begin using dream control.

You can tell yourself that you will do or say a certain thing in your dream to remind yourself and begin lucid dreaming as you start to fall asleep. Once you do or say this cue, you will come to the awareness that you are dreaming and begin to have a lucid dream.

This is considered as a mnemonic or mild process of bringing on lucid dreaming, and was founded by Dr. Stephen LaBerge (a scientist). Through this your mind becomes in total control of what is happening as you dream, this means you will be in no way harmed because it is only in your mind and of that you are in control of.

There is another way of reaching lucid dreaming and it involves making a dream journal or diary, do this by keeping a pen or pencil and a notebook of some kind by your bed so that you can jot down any information that you are able to recall in the moments right after you wake up. By doing this for several nights, you will begin to see that you are able to recall the facts you have jotted down and dream something similar but this time you will start to exert control over the events.

Using dream control can allow you to banish your nightmares and have truly incredible adventures in your dreams. Anything you can imagine is possible when you are lucid dreaming.

Experts warn though, that the one danger to lucid dreaming, is doing it too often can have adverse effects. The central reason being that dreaming naturally often informs us of critical things we would otherwise not know. Go ahead and have fun with lucid dreaming. It truly is an interesting experience, but always also let yourself have some times when you just dream regularly!
