How Dream Control Is For Everyone

We tend to operate under the assumption that our dreams are something entirely out of our hands. We think of them as a mysterious happening which we do not fully understand, much less have the ability to control. However, these nightly journeys made by our subconscious are something which we can indeed take control of. Thanks to a technique known as lucid dreaming, dream control is an ability which is well within our reach.

What does this term “lucid dreaming” really mean and in what way does it happen, and what are the benefits to this? Are people really able to obtain control, and make their nightly travels in the dreaming arena into an ongoing, never ending adventure? Stay tuned to this article for your answers of these often asked questions on the topic of controlling dreams.

Exactly What is Dream Control?

Dream control is something which is available to us through the use if lucid dreaming and grants us the ability to know, even while in the midst of a dream, to be aware that you are doing so – this lets you start to take control over the direction of your dreams! Even while you are fast asleep, your mind can be in total control of what happens.

People who have recurring nightmares can find relief by using lucid dreaming – this simple, but very powerful technique can help them to stop their nightmares and get the rest they need.

The Common Methods of Achieving Lucid Dreaming are:

A very effective, but a very simple method to achieve lucid dreaming is the use of audio (binaural) and this method entails listening to a couple of different frequencies, together at the same time, and this will synchronize your brain waves and help put you into a deep state of relaxation, a state to possibly bring about the state of lucid dreaming and this is called (REM) or rapid eye movement state of sleeping.

Prior to modern technology and all kinds of programs made available on DVDs or CDs, the most popular means of dream control techniques were meditation and self hypnosis. With meditation and self hypnosis, many people reportedly found it difficult to achieve a state conducive to dream control.

There have been other approaches to lucid dreaming developed by experts over the years, they worked in the fields of psychology and science to do this. Aside from the way you get there, the end result is the same, training your mind as it is asleep, to know when it is dreaming.

To accomplish this, it takes us being completely awake it start, with the secret being the ability to remember to either say something or do an action in the dream, which will bring on the appropriate realization in your mind and permit you to control the next events happening.

This can be done by just telling yourself before you fall asleep that you will do something specific or say something in particular to tell yourself that you are dreaming. When you know that you are in a dream, you can begin reshaping the events.

This form of dream control training is called MILD (mnemonic induction of lucid dreams) and was developed by the scientist Dr. Stephen LaBerge. This mnemonic technique allows you to start using dream control to decide how your dreams will play out. Once you are lucid dreaming, there are no limits except for your own imagination!

Keeping a dream diary is a good way to train yourself to use dream control. Keep a notebook and pen by your bedside so that when you awake from a dream you can write down anything and everything which you remember. After keeping your dream journal for a few week, you may find yourself having a dream which you have written down over again – except this time, you’ll be in the director’s chair for the experience!

Conquer the dragons of your nightmares, go to exotic locations, investigate magical lands, talk to any person your desire, and escape from worldly bonds. By controlling your dreams, everything can be a possibility, and gives us the ability to reign over our imaginary worlds we dream about nightly, and totally control what is going to happen.

Experts warn though, that the one danger to lucid dreaming, is doing it too often can have adverse effects. The central reason being that dreaming naturally often informs us of critical things we would otherwise not know. Go ahead and have fun with lucid dreaming. It truly is an interesting experience, but always also let yourself have some times when you just dream regularly!
