Dream Control- Experience It Every Night!
While most people sleep they dream (mini moves) and as mysterious as dreams are, they occur while we are soundly sleeping and without our control, at least it seems that way. Some of these dreams are pleasant while others are disconcerting and not so pleasant. We do know, however, it is possible to make controlling your dreams a reality. And this is achieved by learning about and inducing a state known as lucid dreaming.
But is this actually real or is the reality of dream control just a myth? It it really is true then what are the benefits of it? And can anyone really achieve this state of being able to control everything that happens when you are dreaming?
Dream Control, what is it?
Dream control, (through the use of lucid dreaming), is your becoming aware of the fact you are in a dream state, and that you can actually control the happenings in your dream. As you are sound asleep, you recognize that the events you think are going on are actually dreams, and that you can control how the events transpire to even the ending.
For people who suffer from recurring nightmares, this method, simplistic as it is, is powerful and may be just the system they need to rid themselves of the recurring nightmares and begin to enjoy a decent night's sleep.
Lucid Dreaming: Methods of inducement.
Using binaural audio is a great way for reaching the lucid dream stage, through this you listen separate frequencies (in unison) for the purpose of getting the brain waves synchronized, which allows you to relax, and the stage where lucid dreaming is able to occur known as REM (rapid eye movement) sleep.
Prior to modern technology and all kinds of programs made available on DVDs or CDs, the most popular means of dream control techniques were meditation and self hypnosis. With meditation and self hypnosis, many people reportedly found it difficult to achieve a state conducive to dream control.
Besides using these methods for lucid dreaming, there are others that have been discovered through the years by qualified psychologists and scientists. It does not matter which method is used, the basic goal is the same, which is to train your mind as it sleeps to recognize when it is in the middle of dreaming.
You need to begin this mental training, however while you are still awake. The goal is to set a cue which you will be able to perform in your dream which signals to you that you are in fact dreaming and that it is time to start taking the reins of your dream and directing it towards the outcomes you want.
This can be done by just telling yourself before you fall asleep that you will do something specific or say something in particular to tell yourself that you are dreaming. When you know that you are in a dream, you can begin reshaping the events.
This method, in particular, is known as mnemonic induction (MILD) of lucid dreams and was discovered by Dr. Stephen LaBerge, a scientist. Your brain is in complete control with this method and controls what happens during your dream. By controlling your dreams, it simply means no harm can come to you. Itis all in the mind and your imagination is your only limitation on what you can experience while lucid dreaming.
There are other means of accomplishing lucid dreaming and one would be to keep a journal or a dream diary, in which to record your dreams. By keeping this notebook (and a pen or pencil) nearby on the table by your bed you will be able to write down what you remember about the dream right after you wake up, when it is fresh in your mind. Do this for several nights and soon you will remember what you wrote and you will have a similar dream and then you will be able to control your dream and the activities in that dream.
Chase away the bad guys in nightmares, travel to whatever location you desire, go to your imagined hideaways, talk to famous people if you want, and basically be unshackled by worldly concerns. Through controlling your dreams, you can accomplish this, it gives you the ability to be in control of your nightly dream world and all that happens there.
Experts warn though, that the one danger to lucid dreaming, is doing it too often can have adverse effects. The central reason being that dreaming naturally often informs us of critical things we would otherwise not know. Go ahead and have fun with lucid dreaming. It truly is an interesting experience, but always also let yourself have some times when you just dream regularly!
