The Science Of Regular Conscious Dreaming

Perhaps more commonly known as lucid dreaming, conscious dreaming includes the ability to realize that you are dreaming while you are doing so and the ability to take control of your dreams, dictating the happenings. Once you are able to realize that you are dreaming, you can go anywhere or do anything in your dream.

Having complete power of control over your dreams may seem sci-fi or fantasy like and is readily possible for anyone to accomplish. It is quite easy to accomplish and offers you the ability to express your thoughts, feelings and desires in a tested method to get you to a state favorable to begin lucid dreaming.

The first thing you should do is to figure out what your goals are in learning conscious dreaming. Do you hope to have more enjoyment from your dreams, or is conscious dreaming a vehicle for you to achieve some of your other life goals?

Once you know why you want to start conscious dreaming, you will then need to become more practiced in the techniques which can produce lucid dreams. Dream recall is the way that most people choose to begin – this is simply training yourself to remember your dreams.

In order to start to conscious dream, you need to recall all the details of dreams you dream every night. There are several, but the technique most wildly used is the dream diary. Simply place by the side of your bed a notebook and pen or pencil. Each and every morning, before you even get up, write down everything you can recall in your dream diary. The longer you wait the less information you will remember about your dream.

The more you write the better and soon you will remember more and more of your dream details and job them all down in your dream diary. You will also be able to use the dream diary to refresh your memory. Now your mind is primed to remember the details and will find that it’s an easy step to being aware you are dreaming. Often you may wake up, suddenly, from a dream and realize that it was a dream and not real.

There are additional methods used in lieu of the dream diary. Hypnosis is a popular method and can help achieve the state of mind needed to enter lucid or conscious dreaming. After a few sessions, hypnosis may help an individual to remember the smallest facts that he or she may have forgotten. Your ready to start after learning this technique.

Occasionally you may find you suddenly woke up from a lucid dream in the beginning and that’s very normal. Just recall as much of your dream events and fall back into sleep. Focus on those events and you will get back into your dream. You may even have control over your dream and bring it to whatever conclusion you want.

Another method which many find useful for inducing conscious dreaming is to wake up a few hours earlier than normal. Simply set your alarm about two hours early and then go back to bed after awakening. In these last few hours before you are accustomed to waking up, it is much more common to have lucid dreams. These dreams can be hard to tell from simply laying awake and daydreaming! This is a good way to begin conscious dreaming.

Pay attention closely to your sleep patterns and this will confirm the times that are best to this type of dream. Do no cut your hours of sleep too less than you need. Lucid dreaming is less likely to occur if you are sleep deprived or tired.

You will be happy to know that lucid dreaming is helpful for insomnia as well as other sleeping disorders. If you can dream consciously, you can condition yourself to turn off nagging thoughts that keep you awake at night.

You may think that lucid dreaming will take years to master – however, it’s something you can do with relatively little practice!

Anyone can have lucid dreams with a little practice. Using these techniques, you’ll find yourself in control of your dreams before you know it!
