Conscious Dreaming Highlights
Also called lucid dreaming, conscious dreaming is a state where you are aware that you are in the middle of a dream and can then start to control the goings-on of the experience. You can do anything that you can imagine while having a lucid dream, as soon as you understand that you are dreaming.
This might sound almost unbelievable, but conscious dreaming is an ability you already have and can learn to harness with some practice. It’s not hard to start lucid dreaming and through this ability you can express yourself and come to full self-actualization. There are even some techniques which have been proven to produce lucid dreams that you can use.
What you want to achieve while in this dream state is necessary to know before hand. For example - do you want to meet the boy or girl of your dreams? Do you want to have an adventure in a country you are longing to visit? Regardless of what you want, you need to know how to achieve the state needed to become a conscious dreamer. Know your goal before hand.
After you define the reasons for wanting to learn to dream consciously, you can learn the steps to get your mind on the right level. You need to be in the right state of mind to be able to lucid dream. A good place to start is recalling your dreams. This means to remember any dreams you have had.
Remembering your dreams is the first step in having conscious dreaming experiences. The easiest way to train yourself to do this is to keep a dream diary. Keep your dream diary right by your bed and as soon as you awake from a dream, write down everything you can remember about it.
The more you write the better and soon you will remember more and more of your dream details and job them all down in your dream diary. You will also be able to use the dream diary to refresh your memory. Now your mind is primed to remember the details and will find that it’s an easy step to being aware you are dreaming. Often you may wake up, suddenly, from a dream and realize that it was a dream and not real.
Either on its own or along with a dream diary, hypnosis is a powerful technique for training your mind to recall dreams. In fact, many find themselves able to remember every detail of their dreams with only a few sessions of hypnosis! Once you have gained this ability, you will be able to begin conscious dreaming.
Occasionally you may find you suddenly woke up from a lucid dream in the beginning and that’s very normal. Just recall as much of your dream events and fall back into sleep. Focus on those events and you will get back into your dream. You may even have control over your dream and bring it to whatever conclusion you want.
Something else which works for a lot of people is to set your alarm two to three hours before you would usually get up. Once you awaken, go right back to sleep (don’t forget to reset your alarm, though!). These last few hours of sleep are when conscious dreaming is most likely to happen. Many find that they are so conscious of these dreams that it can be difficult to tell if you are dreaming, or just lying awake thinking.
It may surprise you to know that lucid dreaming is good for curing insomnia and many other sleeping disorders. The process of learning to dream consciously also teaches you to banish unruly thoughts that are keeping you from falling asleep.
It does not take long to learn the art of consciously controlling your dreams. It will not take years of study and practice as some may think. Just take some time to practice and work at it and you will be a conscious dreamer in no time.
Conscious dreaming can be learned much easier than you think – it doesn’t take years of practice to do.
It is so easy to lucid dream that almost anyone can achieve it. Put a little time into it and choose one of these methods to learn the power of lucid dreaming. Try all three methods and see which one works best for you. Discover what lies within your dreams.
