Perhaps more commonly known as lucid dreaming, conscious dreaming includes the ability to realize that you are dreaming while you are doing so and the ability to take control of your dreams, dictating the happenings. Once you are able to realize that you are dreaming, you can go anywhere or do anything in your dream.
The idea of being able to do anything you want in your dreams is amazing to think about, but anyone can learn to do it. It is not hard at all to do and offers an outlet for living out your fantasies and releasing your hidden desires. You can learn step-by-step proven ways to achieve the state of lucid dreaming.
Before you get started, take a step back and think about what you want to accomplish by means of conscious dreaming ? do you just want to have more enjoyable dreams, or are there goals in your life which lucid dreaming can help you to reach?
Once you know why you want to start conscious dreaming, you will then need to become more practiced in the techniques which can produce lucid dreams. Dream recall is the way that most people choose to begin ? this is simply training yourself to remember your dreams.
In order to start to conscious dream, you need to recall all the details of dreams you dream every night. There are several, but the technique most wildly used is the dream diary. Simply place by the side of your bed a notebook and pen or pencil. Each and every morning, before you even get up, write down everything you can recall in your dream diary. The longer you wait the less information you will remember about your dream.
Another way besides keeping a record of your dreams is to use hypnosis. It will get you to the mindset necessary to have lucid dreams. Hypnosis is a powerful tool that can get you to remember details in your dreams very quickly. Just a few sessions are all it takes. As with the other method, once you have dream recall, you are ready to have a conscious dream.
Together with a dream diary or by itself, hypnosis can be a valuable tool in dream recall and conscious dreaming. In just a few sessions of hypnosis, most people find that they can remember each and every little detail of their dreams. After this can be done, conscious dreaming will start to happen more readily.
Occasionally you may find you suddenly woke up from a lucid dream in the beginning and that?s very normal. Just recall as much of your dream events and fall back into sleep. Focus on those events and you will get back into your dream. You may even have control over your dream and bring it to whatever conclusion you want.
Something else which works for a lot of people is to set your alarm two to three hours before you would usually get up. Once you awaken, go right back to sleep (don?t forget to reset your alarm, though!). These last few hours of sleep are when conscious dreaming is most likely to happen. Many find that they are so conscious of these dreams that it can be difficult to tell if you are dreaming, or just lying awake thinking.
Pay close attention to your patterns of sleep. These patterns will dictate the time these types of dreams are likely to occur. Also remember - do not sleep less hours than you normally do. You are likely to have fewer lucid dreams if you do.
However, good news. It has been found that lucid dreams have a positive effect on insomnia. By lucid dreaming, the effect is that it can teach your mind to close or shut down the distressful and bad thoughts which keep you awake.
It does not take years of research and practice to learn to control your dreams consciously. It can be done quickly and easily. With a little practice and work, you will be lucid dreaming in no time. Explore your own mind; control your dreams, and so much more.
Almost everyone can achieve conscious dreaming. Take a little time to explore these methods and try one or two of them. Release your power of lucid dreaming. You won?t believe what you can accomplish.

Just to reasssure people, you cannot come to harm when lucid dreaming. I’ve been lucid dreaming for years and have never had any negative experiences.
Just relax and enjoy it!!
Hi,
One issue with conscious dreaming especially when you have a meditative schedule with the conscious dreaming tools is one I’ve had twice where one time I was totally exhausted and the other when I had had to much sleep where the mind is so conscious the dreaming is occuring in the reality surroundings you live in. In both these cases I was lucid dreaming regularily but my mind went out of the dream state to being unconsious dreaming and when near the morning I realized again that I was sleeping and dreaming I would wake up in my bed and go about my morning routine and then out of the ordinary things would occur and I would realize that I was still dreaming then I would force my body to wake up and get out of bed again this occured from 7 to twelve times with the same result till I actually woke up for real. This was terrifying as my fear was that my body and mind being on such different levels I had a strong fear that I had gone into a conscious coma…..I knew I was dreaming and was completely conscious I could even hear the sounds around myself that were actually really occuring around me in the house but could not actually wake up and get out of the dream state. Obviously I did wake up but then for about 3 days would be fearful to put my body into a rest state.
Also accumulative conscious dreaming can cause mental exhaustion over a long period of time when you reach a point where all you do is lucid or conscious dream, great the body gets sleep but the mind does not as you are using the same mental efforts that you would make in a normal awake day. Sometimes you also need to take the time to rest from lucid/conscious dreaming so that your mind can have relaxation and rest for normal controlled activity as well as your body. Mind you if you choose to push and push against this reality it causes incredible mental and intellectual constitution and endurance!!!!
