Conscious dreaming or lucid dreaming, as it is also called, is the state of being asleep and aware of your dreams while you are asleep. You are completely aware of what you are dreaming in this dream state and can consciously control your dreams.
This might sound almost unbelievable, but conscious dreaming is an ability you already have and can learn to harness with some practice. It?s not hard to start lucid dreaming and through this ability you can express yourself and come to full self-actualization. There are even some techniques which have been proven to produce lucid dreams that you can use.
What you want to achieve while in this dream state is necessary to know before hand. For example - do you want to meet the boy or girl of your dreams? Do you want to have an adventure in a country you are longing to visit? Regardless of what you want, you need to know how to achieve the state needed to become a conscious dreamer. Know your goal before hand.
Once you have a clear idea of your goals, you are ready to start practicing the techniques which lead to conscious dreaming. The first step for many is dream recall, which involves training yourself to remember you dreams in detail.
Remembering your dreams is the first step in having conscious dreaming experiences. The easiest way to train yourself to do this is to keep a dream diary. Keep your dream diary right by your bed and as soon as you awake from a dream, write down everything you can remember about it.
You will remember more about your dreams each time you write the information in the diary and you?ll also be able to use your dream to refresh your memory. Now your mind is primed to remember details of your dreams and being aware of your dreams has become easy. You may suddenly become awake and aware that what you dreamt is not real.
Hypnosis is another widely used method for lucid dreaming. It is a good way to get into the state of mind you need to begin lucid dreaming. A hypnosis session works quickly to help people to recall the tiniest details in their dreams. This can be done in only a few sessions. Once you have this level of dream recall, you are ready to proceed with conscious dreaming.
Yet another conscious dreaming method is to force yourself to awaken earlier than usual, such as two hours or so. After you have awoken, go ahead and fall back to sleep. This has the effect of making you more aware of your dreams. You may have the illusion that you are lying in bed daydreaming but you are actually asleep and dreaming. Lucid dreaming is very likely to occur if you do this consistently.
Something else which works for a lot of people is to set your alarm two to three hours before you would usually get up. Once you awaken, go right back to sleep (don?t forget to reset your alarm, though!). These last few hours of sleep are when conscious dreaming is most likely to happen. Many find that they are so conscious of these dreams that it can be difficult to tell if you are dreaming, or just lying awake thinking.
You?ll want to know your sleeping patterns, since this can help you to determine when the best times are for lucid dreams. However, you?ll still want to make sure to get plenty of sleep. When you are fatigued, you?ll have a harder time conscious dreaming.
However, lucid dreaming is known to be effective against insomnia as well as other sleep disorders. Lucid or conscious dreaming may teach you to shut your mind to distressing and troublesome thoughts that may prevent a good nights sleep.
It does not take years of research and practice to learn to control your dreams consciously. It can be done quickly and easily. With a little practice and work, you will be lucid dreaming in no time. Explore your own mind; control your dreams, and so much more.
Almost everyone can achieve conscious dreaming. Take a little time to explore these methods and try one or two of them. Release your power of lucid dreaming. You won?t believe what you can accomplish.
